Camino Gravel Challenge

Event Details

We welcome everyone back to the 9th annual El Camino gravel cycling event in Palestine TX! After a successful re-launch in 2021 with a new format and completely redesigned routes, we are primed to build on this event for 2022. Registration is now open, and stay tuned and check back on the Route HQ page as we work on finalizing the routes for this year’s event!

All routes provide varied terrain. There are narrow primitive bridges, pot holes, animals, loose gravel and other hazards. There are short hills – some fairly steep – coming out of creeks and such. Riders must use caution and care when crossing creeks – speed is not always your friend in those situations, but discretion is.

Registration & Packet Pickup

Registration is available through the registration page here

Friday Packet Pickup: We encourage all riders to pick up their registration packet on Friday night at the start/finish site from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.

Saturday & Sunday Packet Pickup: Race day packet pickup will open at 6am at the start/finish venue. Packet pick up closes after the 33 mile group starts.

Support & Rest Stops

Rest Stops: There will be multiple rest stop locations each day for all routes. Water, sports drinks and basic snacks will be available at each stop.

New for 2022: We’ve partnered with Hammer Nutrition to stock our rest stops with additional nutritional items such as Heed, Hammergels, and Endurolyte Fizz. They’ve also offered a 20% off discount code to their online store: CGC_HN20%

Support: While two mobile mechanic crews will be onsite, riders are ultimately responsible for providing their own mechanical support throughout each route. If your not sure what you should have, please see the Pre-race Checklist page.

Support Crews: Riders are allowed to have support crews available to help them, but support vehicles must use bypass routes and cannot drive alongside riders on gravel sections. No one wants a big cloud of dust being flung in their face all day!

Saturday Post Event Festivities

Venue change! This year we will be one door over from Pint and Barrell at The Shelton hall! This awesome venue is that older historic looking building right next to Pint and Barrel. This venue offers a better place to hang and enjoy the live music after pounding your legs into oblivion.

Awards – At 3pm we will have our awards ceremony for the top 3 riders in each distance as well as some honorable mentions and prize winners.

Cantu Raffle – The carbon wheel raffle drawing will be at 4:15pm to select the winner of the $1700 set of carbon gravel wheels from Cantu Cycling Wheels
